Biographical Timeline

1956~1971

1962

Yuhan Corporation became the first pharmaceutical company listed on the Korea Stock Exchange.
1963

Ilhan New donated 17,000 shares of Yuhan stock to Yonsei University to fund the school’s Health Scholarship Committee.
1964

Established the Yuhan Educational Foundation and built Yuhan Technical High School in Hang-dong, Guro-gu, Seoul.
1965

Ilhan New established the “Yuhan Educational Trust Fund Management Committee” and donated 56,000 shares of Yuhan Corporation, expanding his education and scholarship efforts. He also received an honorary Doctorate of Law from Yonsei University.
1970

Dr. Ilhan New established the Korean Social and Educational Assistance Trust Fund (now called the Yuhan Foundation).
1971

Dr. New passed away on March 11, 1971, at the age of 76. He left his entire personal fortune to the public.
